Banquet website

April 20, 2009

I have worked in the food service industry for over twenty five years. I have worked a variety of jobs from cook to hostess to waitress to banquet server and scheduler. I would like to start a website for banquet servers. I wonder if this would be of interest to anyone. Would someone care to give me their opinion? Also I would like to write a book on the art of banquet serving. Would anyone care to give me their opinion on this as well. I just wonder if anyone would be interested in reading about this topic?

Hello world!

I guess I am officially a blogger. This is a new undertaking for me. I have decided that this is the year I step out of my comfort zone and do things I would never have done in the past. I am a firm believer that if you start a project such as writing a book and work on it diligently that eventually you will have something that is solid and other people will want to read.

I have found this to be the case with my own undertaking. About a year and a half ago I decided to write a book. Actually I was going to put together a collection of short stories involving situations, funny or other wise, that I encountered on the job. I spent the last twenty one years of my life working as a banquet server. A slave to the masses if you will. So I felt as though I had much to say about the food service industry as a whole.

Everything shifted one day when I had this ephiphany if I can call it that and I decided that my experiences, funny or other wise, would be better put on hold while I work on a book about event planning. “Why not?”, I asked myself. After all I had been involved in the set up and break down of  thousands of parties. My mind was full of ideas for decorating and efficient usage of venue spaces. I knew what it took to create the ultimate party and that was what I would write about. Now the creative juices were really flowing and I could barely contain the excitment I felt just thinking about the  contribution I would be making to struggling brides all over the world as they stressed the details of planning their big day. Not to worry, I was here to save the day, with the promise that planning your event would be as easy as one, two, three.
